Living the Florida Life: Clearwater Beach Getaway
Living in Florida offers some of the best vacation spots right within the state. With so many beaches to choose from, we decided to explore the Gulf Coast for a family getaway. Join me as I showcase why Florida is one of the best states in the U.S. to live and play.
Come Pack with Me
Packing for your family requires top-notch organization. I always pack the day before the trip; last-minute packing gives me butterflies and the fear of forgetting something. My method? Divide and conquer, starting with the kids!

I'm sure I missed a few items, but these are the essentials for a beach trip.
Accommodations
As Hilton Honors members, we chose the Hilton Hiatus on the beach. The hotel was brand new and even had that new-car smell. With the beach directly across from the hotel, we didn’t have to walk far with all our beach gear. Unlike most hotels, the Hiatus had its lobby on the seventh floor, and once you got there, the view was spectacular. Overlooking the beach, it was the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The pool was also on the seventh floor.
Our room was designed with understated elegance and functionality. The spacious layout was perfect for our family, with a separate living room where I could relax in the evenings while the rest of the family chilled on the other side. The en-suite bathroom was a dream—a contemporary design with a walk-in shower big enough for a soccer game! I loved everything about this hotel.
Clearwater Beach
I hate to brag about Florida beaches. Nah, who am I kidding? It’s not bragging when it’s true. Picture this: beautiful, light sand tickling your toes and the sun shining down, creating the perfect beach environment. Although the hotel didn’t have a designated beach area, we managed just fine. All the covered seats had to be rented, and by the time we got to the beach, they were already booked. Luckily, we brought a few beach chairs from home, which came in handy. That’s why it’s best to be prepared.
We spent most of our time in the water to stay cool, but when we had to come out, it was tough without proper shade. Note to self: come early to rent the covered tents and chairs next time. Despite this, we had a blast. Clearwater Beach is one of the best in Florida. The name says it all—Clearwater. The water was clear enough for the kids to use their goggles to find fish swimming all around. At night, they looked for hermit crabs on the beach.
Clearwater Beach is a must-visit for anyone seeking a tropical getaway without leaving the country. Dear Clearwater, the Bear family will be back again and will stay at the Hiatus Hilton hotel.
