Georgia mountain family Cabin Vacation

During December, when the children have an extended vacation from school, my family always plans a family vacation. We try to go to different places to expose the kids to new places and experiences. We are Floridians and only receive a few weeks of cold weather during the year. The idea for the vacation stemmed from wanting to be somewhere cold. Last year, we ventured off to Boulder, Colorado, for a family ski vacation. This year, a Georgia cabin trip was our top destination choice now that the kids are older and able to withstand a longer car trip.

Oops, I forgot to mention; this year, we are traveling with a three-month old. Well, he mostly sleeps after his milk and is car friendly. Thank heavens he does not spazz out in the car. With the destination selected, it was time to find the perfect cabin to call home for the holidays. I wanted to book a rental that had the traditional cabin look with the wood panels and large windows overlooking the mountains. I’m a little bit on the bourgeoisie side, so the cabin had to have the outer shell of a rustic mountain cabin but still contain modern features inside. I came across The Bear House in my first search. I was going back and forth between The Bear House and staying in a treetop cabin. Both options were uniquely different and offered amazing experiences. My heart decided on The Bear House. It had a larger space to accommodate a family of five comfortably. One more tidbit… my family is affectionately known as “The Bear Family.” When we searched the origin of our last name we found out that it also means “bear.”

The drive up to the cabin was detailed in the description provided by The Evolve Team. The team provided all of the information we needed to have while staying at the cabin. We had a fabulous concierge person, Brooke, who tended to our needs when we reached out to her. She was not only patient but extremely responsive. Upon entering the cabin, the decor was exactly as the pictures showed on the website. The beautiful cabin did not have the traditional brown wood color exterior but a deep gray color that made it stand out from all the other cabins on the street. The fenced in patio was a great feature for keeping larger varmints out.

My family and I entered the cabin to be blown away by its rustic, modern charm, with elements of being swept away to the old frontier days. The kitchen has a touch of contemporary beauty that fits perfectly with the cabin. The cooktop feature in the kitchen was a great design choice for reducing space and keeping with a modern look. The full bathroom on the main floor features shiplap walls and a clawfoot tub. The guest bedrooms have shiplap walls as well. This brought a warm element while keeping the modern/traditional style to blend wonderfully.

I’m a little stinker when it comes to bedding. I am not a fan of old fashioned bedding styles and materials. It takes away from the modern room decor and makes it look outdated. The bedding choice at The Bear House is on the same level as a high-end hotel. It is simple, tasteful, and blends perfectly with the flow of the cabin. Beautiful wrought iron spiral balusters lead to the third floor loft. The loft overlooks the entire main floor and has a bed facing large windows that look out to the mountains. My husband and I stayed upstairs to capture the breathtaking views.

The loft bathroom is one of the features that helped sell me on the decision to book this cabin. The designer of this bathroom did away with traditional bathroom decor. Instead, they created a mini spa with a large open shower. The bathroom countertops are concrete with modern sinks that add to the bathroom’s elegant cabin style. The ground floor is accessed by the same spiral staircase. Once again, the cabin owners thought about every element to create a vacation home that people will prefer to stay in. The game area includes a table hockey game and corn hole, which my kids enjoyed very much.

The Bear House is one of the top rated cabins in Jasper, Georgia, and is definitely worth the stay. Families will not be disappointed. I want to thank the owners for creating a quaint luxury cabin that suited the needs of our family perfectly. It was the Goldilocks of cabins—not too big and not too small, but just right.
